The landing place at the homestead on the other side of the river

I'm making the most of this little staycation. Memories of the recent heatwaves are fading and at this time of year who knows how many gloriously sunny, warm days we have left?

Not usually keen on embarking on new, unfamiliar walks by myself, nonetheless the All Trails app beckoned and, having parked on the "Hard," whch is flooded at high tide and therefore not really a car park, we set off up the country lane and across the field, with Fergus delighted to be off-lead and me trying not to panic when the app yelled at me that I was "Offtrack." We crossed a field of stubble and then onto another lane in the other direction.

The path then winds down to the sea which isn't really that picturesque here when the tide is out. More mud under vast Norfolk skies, really. It then joins the sea defence bank for the short stroll back to the Staithe and the coffee cart run by @norfolkcoffeepeddler. Before that, though, making friends and a swim in the harbour. For him, not me. I picked up a couple of ceramic coffee cups by local artists which look sweet in my sitting room.

Burnham Overy Staithe is a pretty little place with a gentler vibe than its überposh neighbour up the road and all the better for it, in my view. We drove past a windmill but I couldn't stop to take a pic so that will come another time. All in all a joyful 4.8km walk and swim for Fergus, not me. 🐾🐾🐾🐾
